The following advantages are offered by the University of Debrecen scholarship:

  • Discount on tuition fees
  • Tuition costs may vary depending on the course of study.
  • Only thirty percent of the entire yearly tuition fee may be waived for the medical and dental programs.
  • For all other programs, the tuition fee reduction is capped at 90% of the annual cost.
  • The amount of the discount depends on the applicant’s academic record and entrance exam performance.
  • Health insurance
  • The scholarship recipient’s benefits are valid for the duration of their academic career, provided they fulfill the standards specified in the scholarship’s operating regulations.

University of Debrecen Scholarship Criteria

To apply for the University of Debrecen scholarship, you must meet the requirements listed below:

  • Candidates must not be citizens of Hungary.
  • Undergraduate program: Upon application, students must be either high school graduates or in their final year of education.
  • Graduate program: Applicants must be enrolled in their last year of BSc/BA studies or hold a BSc/BA degree.
  • Only those who have correctly completed their application submitted all required documentation, and deposited the $150 application fee into the university’s bank account will be eligible to receive the scholarship.
  • During the application process, candidates must meet the admission exam requirements set forth by the degree program on August 31 of the year in which the application is filed, applicants must be 18 years old (exceptions may be requested if an applicant does very well on the admission exam).
  • The scholarship is not available to anyone who has already attended the University of Debrecen.
  • Freshmen’s applications are the only ones considered. We do not accept transfer requests meant for a higher year level. of their choice.

The University of Debrecen scholarship is open to applicants who are citizens of any of the following countries:

Documents/Material Required to Apply

  • A thorough curriculum vitae
  • A scanned copy of the original document demonstrating language proficiency, either through an admissions interview or at least at B2 (CERF). Documentation demonstrating that English was the language of teaching can be uploaded if the student has previously finished courses in the language.
  • Academic qualifications and, if not originally in either Hungarian or English, translations into either language, including:
  • Bachelor-level: a translation and a scanned copy of the original secondary school graduation certificate, or an equivalent.
  • Master level: a translated copy of the original bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent, together with a scanned copy.
  • Special requirements for applications to master’s programs: transcripts of undergraduate studies and a bachelor’s degree in detail.

Deadline

There is no deadline for applying for the University of Debrecen Scholarship in Hungary. As long as program seats are available and scholarship funding is available, applications can be submitted at any time. However, the official application date for all international degree programs at the University of Debrecen is June 15, 2025.
