Schwarzman Scholars Program
By expanding their knowledge of China’s impact on international politics, the Schwarzman Scholars Program, a prestigious and fully funded master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, seeks to cultivate future world leaders. Since its founding in 2016, it has drawn a very varied student body from all over the world who demonstrate a commitment to cross-cultural exchange, academic success, and significant leadership potential. Students who want to concentrate on international studies, economics and business, or public policy finish a one-year Master’s degree in global affairs.
Scholarship Benefits
There is no application fee for the Schwarzman Scholars program. Interview-related expenses, such as economy-class airfare or rail travel, group dinners, and one night in a hotel if required, are planned and covered by the program. All of the Schwarzman Scholars’ costs are also covered by the program, including tuition, fees, room and board, transportation to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the school year, nationwide study tours, the required textbooks and supplies, a Lenovo laptop, health insurance, and a personal stipend.
Eligibility for Schwarzman Scholars Program
Candidates must meet the following requirements in addition to demonstrating outstanding leadership skills, the ability to predict and respond to trends and changes in their environment, a strong intellectual capacity, and impeccable character:
Age requirement: 18–28 years old : Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years old as of August 1 of the Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the Class of 2026–2027).
An undergraduate degree is required:Before August 1st of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year, applicants must be on pace to successfully complete all degree requirements. Those who are presently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs are subject to this requirement. A specific subject of study is not required; all undergraduate majors are welcome.
Must be Proficient in the English Language:Since all teaching will be done in English, applicants must exhibit strong English language abilities. If English is not the applicant’s first language, official results of an English proficiency test must be included with the application. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) is a valid test option. a 100 minimum score. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. Minimum rating: 7. Advanced (C1) or Proficiency (C2) levels of Cambridge English are available. Minimum rating of 185.
No IELTS or other English Language Certificates:For applicants who attended an undergraduate institution where English was the primary language of instruction for at least two years of their academic program, the English language certificate requirement is waived. For candidates who have studied English for two years or more at the Master’s degree level or higher, the requirement will also be waived.
The English language certificate requirement is eliminated for applicants who completed at least two years of their undergraduate studies at an institution where English was the main medium of instruction. Additionally, the criterion will not apply to candidates who have studied English for two years or more at the Master’s degree level or above.
Documents and Materials Required for the Schwarzman Scholars Program
- To apply for the Schwarzman Scholars Program, you must have the following paperwork and materials:
- Biographical Profile: Summarize your leadership accomplishments and future objectives in a 100-word biographical statement.
- The most recent iteration of your curriculum vitae or resume is called a resume. Your resume or CV should highlight your leadership achievements, professional experiences, education, and any other information you would like to highlight but didn’t include in the application. Remember that the limit is two pages.
- Video Introduction: Provide the URL for your one-minute video introduction.
Transcripts: You must upload your transcripts from any undergraduate and graduate institution you have ever attended. Your transcript must include your full name, the name of the school you attended, the degree you earned, and the date of award. - English Proficiency exam Results: If English is not your first language and you have not studied it for at least two years at the post-secondary level, you must submit your English proficiency exam results.
- Essays: Two essays and two short answer responses are required of every applicant. The two required writings are a 500-word Statement of Purpose and a 750-word Leadership Essay. There is a 100-word restriction on each of the two short answer responses.

Deadline for Schwarzman Scholars Program
Applications must be submitted by 3:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on September 12, 2025. Even in the event of last-minute crises or latency problems, applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. August 2026 will mark the start of the program.
