The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides outstanding foreign scholars who are just starting their academic careers and have less than four years of Ph.D. by giving Humboldt Research Fellowships to postdoctoral researchers .Fellowships can be awarded for six to twenty-four months. Postdoctoral Fellowship Specifications
At the beginning of your academic career, take advantage of research sponsorship in Germany. You can carry out study in Germany with the Humboldt study Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers. The scholarship is worth €2,670 per month. Scholarships may be awarded for six to twenty-four months.
Coverage of Fellowships for Experienced Researchers
ou can carry out study in Germany with the Humboldt study Fellowship for seasoned researchers. The scholarship is worth € 3,170. Scholarships are available for up to three visits within three years, with durations ranging from six to eighteen months.
Overall Advantages for Humboldt Research Fellowship
The following advantages can also be provided by Humboldt Research Fellowship:
- mobility lump sum payment to cover costs associated with required research and conference travel, library and archive stays, etc. in Germany and overseas; reimbursement for the price of liability and health insurance;
- lump sum for the fellow’s travel expenses in the event that a third party cannot cover the costs; a language fellowship for a two- to four-month intensive language course at specific German language institutes just before the actual research period; and language fellowships for accompanying spouses.
- allowances for family members who reside with you for a minimum of three months;
The fellowship can be extended up to 12 months for research fellows who accompany children under the age of 12; for single parents, there is a flat-rate allowance for accompanying children (under the age of 18) for stays of at least three months; for a research stay at a research institute in another European country (but not the research fellow’s home country); for a specific period during the fellowship if necessary to ensure the success of the research;
extensive alumni sponsorship after a successful research stay has ended, particularly for keeping in touch with collaborative partners in Germany throughout the Humboldtian’s academic career; a subsidy towards research costs to be paid to the hosts in Germany in the amount of 800 EUR per month (for research in the natural sciences and engineering) and 500 EUR per month (for research in the humanities and social sciences).

Application Requirements for Humboldt Research Fellowships
- a doctorate or similar degree earned fewer than four years before the application date (Ph.D., C.Sc., or equivalent). Candidates who have nearly finished their PhD studies are eligible to apply as long as they submit a dissertation manuscript or a publication that includes the findings of their dissertation no earlier than six months prior to the dissertation’s completion.
- Academic papers are published in journals and/or publishing houses after being reviewed in accordance with international standards.
- Verification of the availability of research facilities, a mentorship agreement, and a thorough declaration from a German research institution’s academic host specialist.The supervisor of the doctoral studies and one other academic employee who is qualified to provide substantiated remarks on the applicant’s qualifications, preferably including reviewers who are not employed at the applicant’s own institution, should provide their expert judgments.

- If necessary, a certificate in German is required. Publisher’s acknowledgement or note of receipt, along with summaries or translations of important publications that aren’t available in German or English
- Furthermore, the host statement and verification of the availability of research facilities
- Two reviews by experts.
