The yearly stipend for a full-time GUPRS is $33,480 (2024 rate). Because of the annual index, the stipend rate for a given year can be the same as it was for the year before.
As long as they can provide the GGRS receipts attesting to the costs of their travel, the awardee is entitled to a maximum of $515 for each eligible adult and $255 for each eligible child, up to an absolute maximum of $1,485 for those who must relocate—either within Australia or from overseas—in order to participate in the program and accept the award.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a GUPRS, a candidate needs to:
be beginning or enrolled in an HDR program at Griffith University, for which GUPRS offers assistance.
- not be receiving any additional funds to assist with living expenditures for the candidate, which should not surpass 75% of the GUPRS stipend rate in order to implement the recommended program. It is not necessary to include recipients of funds unrelated to the candidate’s HDR program or income earned for the program that isn’t meant to cover everyday expenses.
- According to the necessary requirements for the HDR program entry portal, an applicant must either hold a Bachelor’s Degree (AQF 8) with First Class Honours (Class I) or be judged by Griffith University to have attained a comparable level of success in order to be eligible for a GUPRS.
not earned a degree that is equivalent to or better than the HDR program the applicant is starting or enrolling in. - If you are looking for recognition for a prior HDR program candidature, you cannot have completed more than 12 months (or the equivalent full-time) of candidature at Griffith University or any other Australian or overseas university.
