The Victoria University of Wellington (Mori: Te Herenga Waka) is a public university in Wellington, New Zealand. It was founded in 1897 by a parliamentary act and served as a constituent college of the University of New Zealand.
In addition to its highly recognized programs in law, the humanities, and certain scientific subjects, the institution provides a vast array of additional courses. Some programs (such as those in law, criminology, creative writing, architecture, and engineering[8]) have limitations on second-year enrollment, while all first-year courses are open to students.
To be eligible for the award, candidates must have a first-class honors degree or a master’s degree with a research component from an approved university. They must also meet the English language competence requirements set by Victoria University of Wellington and be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a PhD program there.

Eligibility for Victoria University Of Wellington Scholarships
These scholarships are available to graduates of any university in New Zealand or elsewhere who want to enroll full-time in Victoria University of Wellington’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program or who have already begun their doctoral studies there. Please be aware that the website contains the guidelines and other requirements for the scholarship application procedure.
Documents Required
Use the online system to upload your supporting documentation for the Victoria University of Wellington Scholarships. Every applicant needs to send in:
- Certified copies of your academic transcripts and degree certificates, as well as 2,000 words of your academic writing in either English or Mori te reo.
- Additional documentation, such as, is necessary for international students.
Evidence of proficiency in the English language.
- A certified translator is required to certify translations of official documents.
- Additionally, a certified copy of their Diploma Supplement must be uploaded by candidates from EU countries.
Deadline
The current due dates are March 1st, July 1st, and November 1st. All scholarship applicants will get an email with their application results six to eight weeks after the deadline. Applications for the Doctor of Health, Doctor of Nursing, and Doctor of Midwifery positions must be submitted by November 1st of each year.
